Conservation
Over 400 bird species regularly breed in the U.S. and Canada, and as many as 100 of these species suffer from threats to their habitats, declining populations, small populations, or limited distributions. To effectively incorporate conservation messages into bird-focused education programs, it is important to be knowledgeable of the threats birds face and the actions people may take to contribute to bird conservation.
To learn about these conservation issues, take time to read the plans that have been prepared to guide conservation actions at the national and international scales. These plans explore biomes from Arctic to Prairie, examine the birds that depend on these biomes, and outline research needs, conservation issues, and recommendations.
